Ways to Save and Earn Cashback on Shopping

I’m the kind of person who loves to shop, but sometimes it can get the best of me. I always try to find ways to get the best deal, find coupons and free cash so I don’t go over (or too much over) my budget. If you allocate a certain amount to spend but find every which way to save not only on that shopping visit, but future shopping, it allows you to save more or have more to spend, however you view it.

Saving through your phone and on your computer is easier than you may think. I’ve found several ways to save while shopping online and in-store. These savings include finding amazing deals for the product you want as well as coupons to save on your current purchase. You can earn cash back or gift cards on what you spend. With the holidays right around the corner most of us have an increase in our shopping habits, so why not save and earn all while you spend? After the holidays are over these apps will still be useful for your shopping needs through the rest of the year. If you’re a mom, you’ll especially appreciate this. Have I peaked your interest? Read on.

Fetch Rewards

Fetch Rewards is a receipt app that has been my favorite thus far. In the first month of using the app, without much shopping, I earned $5 which I’ve chosen not to touch just yet. You can redeem points for a gift card from lots of retailers. Upload any grocery or drugstore receipt and earn fetch points. You can earn bonuses ranging from 100-3,000 points on brands such as Dove, Scott, Oscar Mayer, Talenti, Breyers, Kraft, Heinz, Breakstone’s Cottage and so many more.

You can earn gift cards for as low as 3,000 points which equals a $3 gift card. You have the potential to earn up to a $50 gift card (50,000 points). It may seem like a lot of points, but they add up pretty quickly. Especially if you buy specialty brands they partner with, you’ll rack up on those bonus points. The longer you wait the larger the gift card you can redeem. Gift cards are available for retailers such as Amazon, AMC Theatres, Best Buy, Target, Crate and Barrel, Express, Airbnb, Visa/ MasterCard gift cards and hundreds more.

Download the app here. Enter my referral code 15NDQ on the sign-up screen and receive 2,000 fetch points ($2.00 in points) when you upload your first receipt.

CoinOut

CoinOut is another receipt app. Upload any receipt and receive a random reward for every receipt. You can also earn by shopping through CoinOut at online merchants, such as Walmart, Ebay, JCPenny, Groupon, and signing up to CoinOut partners. The app gives out weekly surprise bonuses to users that upload receipts frequently.

Download the app here.

Receipt Hog

Receipt hog is also a receipt app that I use to earn cash back on my purchases. You can earn points on grocery shopping, drugstores, restaurants, gas stations and retail stores. The receipts are also converted into ”slots” which are spins you can use to earn additional points. Connecting your email and Amazon accounts earns you additional coins and sweepstakes entries. Be sure to save your receipts for at least 48 hours just incase they report back that your receipt was not clear.

You can earn $5, $15, $25 or $40 in PayPal cash back, a Visa gift card or an Amazon gift card. Depending on how much you shop it may take some time to earn rewards. I’ve typically earned $15-25 within a 2-4 month time frame depending on my in-store spending habits.

To download the app, go to the app store and search Receipt Hog

Ibotta

Ibotta is a little more time consuming in my eyes but can definitely be worth it. With this app you can find offers available and upload your shopping receipt from one of the supported retailers. Redeem your offers by taking a photo of your receipt. Ibotta will match the items you bought to the offers you selected and give you the cash.

You have the ability to link your store loyalty account with one of their supported retailers, by connecting your loyalty card, store account or phone number. When you go shopping, use your loyalty card or phone number as you usually would and points will be added from your purchase within 48 hours.

Another great feature, similar to CoinOut, you can earn points on mobile in-app purchases by browsing cash back offers and tapping the Shop button from the Ibotta app.

To download this app visit Ibotta.com/r/wtevoll and enter referral code wtevoll

Tip: Don’t wait longer than 2 weeks to upload your receipts as most of these apps won’t accept them past this time period.

WikiBuy

WikiBuy has definitely saved me quite a bit on online purchases. It’s an online shopping assistant that integrates as a browser add-on. It makes an online search for any product you are currently viewing and looks for a better price. It also factors in shipping costs to ensure you get the best deal. This has worked wonders for me on Amazon, Ebay, Wayfair etc. Prior to checking out on your purchase it automatically searches online for any available coupons which can be applied to your purchase by providing you with an activation link. Once you click this link it will try every coupon it’s found for the best savings. This will save you time from searching for coupons on sites like RetailMeNot.

Now let’s say you’ve already found the best deal and there are no coupons available, WikiBuy will allow you to earn cash back on your purchase, redeemable for gift cards such as Macy’s, Walmart, Lowe’s, Express and more. The percent varies by store and the amount you are spending. Another cool feature is you can add items to watchlist. It will keep you posted on items you’re interested in and tell you if the price has decreased.

Honey

Honey is another shopping assistant which you can add to your browser. It saves you money by automatically searching for coupons and adding them to your cart. Honey will apply the best possible discount codes to your cart with one click. Like WikiBuy, if you already have the best deal available, you will then earn points on your purchases redeemable for gift cards.

Honey also allows you to add items to your “drop list” which lets you know when the price drops on any items you add. You can also see the price history on an item to see if the price you see is historically the lowest price or if there is potential for the price to go down and by how much.

Rakuten

Rakuten is another way to earn cash back. You can earn up to 40% cash back at over 2,500 retailers. Find a store on Rakuten.com or in the app, click “Shop Now” and shop like you normally would on the retailers website. The Cash Back feature will automatically be activated. You can also add the cash back feature to your browser for eligible coupons to apply to your order. Once every quarter you’ll get paid through PayPal or by check.

When you use my link you’ll earn $10. To download click here and start rewarding yourself for shopping.
